Leadership or Management

The current modern HR trend is a move from the management to the leadership. On one hand, we need leaders as they a vision, on the other hand, the vision is not making any service on its own. It needs a proper daily management as well. But, why you should be a manager, when you can have a word “Leader” on your shiny new business card.

The leadership is modern HR buzzword. Just few selected managers can be called real leaders of the world. Many leaders disappeared in the financial crisis and they were changed by the hard managers, who settle down the mess left after many leaders. The real leader influence the employees and managers positively to reach higher goals, not making all around rich from selling the employee stock.

Many managers go through the leadership development courses, but these courses does not make a leader. The leader evolves on his or her own and the organization can help to improve the leadership skills. The leadership development cannot build a new leader for the organization.

The management is about managing the limited resources of the organization to maximize the output of the organization. It is simple. The manager uses time, money and people to coordinate the jobs, tasks and processes as the organization reaches the highest possible efficiency. There is nothing about emotions, visions or the inspiration. It is not a part of the pure management. The pure management is about a capitalism. Take everything you can to get the best of your people.

The leadership is about emotions, common feelings, getting of employees to move the same direction. It is not about time, money and resources. The leaders hate the resources, the managers have to take care of them. The leader inspires the employees and managers to BELIEVE. Do you believe your manager telling the truth all the time? Would you accept this with your leader? No? It is the difference.

The real leadership cannot be designed or developed from the scratch. The organization can identify the high potential influencing others and the organization can help to improve the leadership. The management can be learned, but the leadership cannot.
