Leadership Development Programs
The leadership development program is extremely expensive HR Program and it has to be carefully selected as the organization will carry tremendous costs and the leader does not have to develop. The organization has to agree to invest huge money into the leadership development programs and the result is not guaranteed.
The leadership development programs should be based on the precise pre-selection of the program candidates. The organization agrees to pay the costs of the leadership development and the participants have to agree to work hard and study even harder. The leadership development is mainly based on meeting with the successful leaders and learning their leadership best practices. As the successful leaders know about their success, their presentations are not done for free and it costs huge amounts of money to organize a two day session with them at one place.
The leadership development program can be hardly organized internally as the current leader is not a role model to follow. Each leader has to be unique and the new leader born and developed fully internally would be just a copy of the previous success story. This is not a good moment to start the leadership role.
The company has to set a reasonable budget for the leadership development and the proper on-going evaluation has to be introduced as many participants of the program have to be told “This is not good for you from now.” The real leader has to fight for the leading position and the participation in the leadership development program is just a beginning.
The organization should never try to develop fully internal leadership development program, it is about the outside inspiration and bringing new and innovative leadership ideas to the organization. The new leader is not a cheap thing, but it can be the best investment, the current leader did.
