HR Centers of Excellence

The HR Centers of Excellence are the HR Departments, where the real experts work and design new HR Processes for the organization. The HR Centers of Excellence also keep the HR Processes running and they implement the changes into current HR Processes as they collect responses from the users of the HR Processes.

The success of Human Resources depends on the results of the Centers of Excellence. The HR Centers of Excellence have to be in the contact with the external market and they have to monitor the trends in HR Management as they can bring the knowledge in the house and they can implement the best practices suitable for the organization.

The HR Centers of Excellence are organized around the expertise, they are focusing on. The most common centers of excellence are the following ones:

  • Recruitment and Staffing
  • Compensation and Benefits
  • Training and Development
  • Career Development

The recruitment and staffing center of excellence is a bit specific as it acts as the product factory, delivering the job candidates also. It is not just focused on the delivery of the recruitment and staffing processes, but it employs the HR Recruiters.

The compensation and benefits is the most conflicting center of excellence, both internally and externally. As the managers want to get in the direct communication with compensation and benefits specialists, the HR Front Office can get nervous about their own relationships easily.

The Career Development is about the leadership development and the specialized training courses for the management, key employees and high potentials in the organization. It is valued HR Department as it brings nice things for employees and managers.

The Training and Development is focused on the training delivery for the masses in the organization. It develops specialized training courses for the sales force staff, operation staff and call centers. They know the training agencies and they are able to prepare custom made training with them to bring the value added to the organization.

The HR Strategy and the needs of the organization determine the HR Organization and the centers of excellence can be structured differently, but these four centers of excellence can be usually found.
