The content of the compensation strategy is usually quite unified across the organizations. The compensation strategy describes the basic compensation policies of the organization to reach the final compensation vision of the organization.

The compensation strategy is about the description of the current status and the analysis of the situation and its impact on the overall performance of the organization. The as is status of the compensation policy is extremely important as the top management will make its judgement on the current situation. The HR has to put a lot of the effort to the correct description of the current situation and the potential risks resulting from the weaknesses of the current compensation strategy.

The next section of the compensation strategy is about the opportunities, the current situation generates for the organization. The compensation strategy has to be positive and it has to show the ways to develop the organization to be more competitive and to become a leader on the market.

The compensation strategy can show the opportunities for the company, when the new compensation strategy is fully introduced and implemented. The strategy is a strong communication tool and the managers should enjoy the shared vision with the top management and Human Resources. The compensation strategy is not a blah blah document, it is very interesting.

The next section of the compensation strategy is about the analysis of the opportunities and the associated costs. The managers should not the detail about the costs, the organization decided to invest into the implementation of the new compensation scheme and how it will be done.

The last section is about the implementation plan. The managers have to understand the main decision of the top management about the priorities and they have to communicate the decision to the employees as they can set their expectations. The compensation strategy is not about the changes from one day to another, it is about a constant and long work of Human Resources.
