Many organization have the confidential compensation strategy. It frustrates the managers and employees as a secret document contains interesting information, which could hurt the organization. It is their interpretation. The interpretation of the top management is about the maturity of the management staff.
The compensation strategy should be communicated to employees as a simplified compensation strategy. The strategy contains many graphs and analyses as the top management can feel comfortable during the approval procedure. The employees do not have to know about the exact position of the organization on the job market, but they should understand the compensation vision of the company.
The compensation strategy is a sensitive document as the competitors can use it as a very interesting source of the internal information. The compensation strategy and the detailed implementation plans should stay confidential and just the managers should be informed about the implementation roadmap as they can prepare themselves.
The compensation strategy has to be open as the employees can read the compensation policy, which is derived from the strategy and they can raise questions to their managers. As the managers should provide the correct answers, the managers have to understand to the compensation strategy.
